TRANSPLANT DOULA RESOURCES

Help

This resource covers a variety of frequently asked questions.

How much does this coaching membership, training, and network cost?

Our program is a lifetime price of $1250 (meaning once you complete your payments, you don’t pay us again!), and you can choose to pay all in one shot—or take the payment plan and pay $250/month for 5 months.

Once you’ve paid, you never fork over a single dime again for ANYTHING inside of our network and community. This includes core course updates, new courses, events, webinars, monthly group coaching, one-on-one coaching, templates, and more.

Can I cancel my membership? What is your cancellation/refund policy?

Please know that canceling your student membership will result in the complete loss of network and course access.

All memberships are non-refundable. There are no exceptions. We understand refund policies and guarantees are common and provide reassurance. However, we want to ensure that every member who joins us is:

1. Ready to commit. You get what you put into this.

2. Financially comfortable. If the price tag makes you hesitate, then this is not the right time for you to commit—and that’s okay. Investing in your education should be a decision you can confidently make.

This allows for our network to be compromised of members who are showing up, doing the work, and committed to putting that work out there for the benefit of transplant patients worldwide.

Plus, this work is founder Michelle’s whole heart and soul: we want to ensure that those paying to have access to the quality content value what they’re receiving.

What is the network hosted through?

We use Mighty Networks. You can learn more about that here.

Is the network available as an app?

Absolutely! You can download the app directly from the App Store or Google Play Store by searching for “Mighty Networks.” The iOS app is compatible with both iPhone and iPad, and the Android app is designed to work perfectly on your favorite Android device.

Can I take this course/join the network if I am outside of the United States?

The Transplant Doula™ program can be taken from anywhere in the world. It’s virtual and self-paced, so you don’t have to worry about different time zones. The principles you’ll learn are—for the most part—universally applicable. We currently offer specific information about the US transplant system, but we hope to expand to include systems from around the world soon.

Are group coaching sessions, events, and workshops virtual? What if I can’t make it?

Yep, everything is virtual! They are hosted and recorded on Zoom, and replays are made available within 48 hours.

Note that one-on-one office hours are NOT recorded.

What is the Transplant Doula™ core course?

The Transplant Doula™ core course is an intensive, 9-module online self-paced program. It will help you hone in on your ability to understand the needs of the people you serve as they navigate their transplant journey–while expanding your innate capacity to be compassionately present.

This course is great for new doulas with zero experience, doulas with established practices, and caregivers of transplant patients.

Do I need to take this course to provide doula services to organ failure patients, transplant patients, or living organ donors?

No. There are no governing bodies for doula work, first and foremost. All the information you could ever need to support these patients is available online and in books. All the information you need to start and grow a sustainable business is, too. E.O. Wilson famously said, “We’re drowning in information but starving for wisdom.”

If you’re unaware of what you need to know and how to apply it to real-life situations or even how to use it in your business, all the free information in the world won’t help. The Transplant Doula program pulls all pertinent information together in one place and is designed to make it easy to learn and implement.

Where and when does the core course take place?

The course is completely virtual and provided through our network, which you gain lifetime access to as a student. You can complete your course material from anywhere in the world, whenever feels right for you—as long as you have a stable internet connection. There are no time constraints.

Is the content of this course applicable if I am outside of the United States?

Yes, for the most part! The Transplant Doula™ core course presents concepts and approaches that are universally applicable. We do focus on the US transplant system throughout, but there are prompts on how to find pertinent information in your own city/country/etc.

Will this program open up job opportunities for me?

For now, transplant doulas are private practitioners working on setting an institutional standard for transplant patient care.

Over the last decade, birth and death doulas have gained traction in establishing the positive benefits of their work—and we envision the same for our work with transplant patients.

In the meantime, we’ll continue to create standardized education and competencies to ensure that our training programs give you the best preparation for both supporting transplant patients and receiving professional compensation. Our program is continuously revised to meet the developing needs of transplant patients in North America and beyond.

Use this course to enhance your current offerings or create a new path. The opportunities are limited only by your creative, go-getter attitude.

How long will I have access to the course material?

As a member, you’ll have lifelong access!

The transplantation landscape is always evolving and shifting, and we periodically update our course material to reflect those changes; it’s important to us that our students have the ability to refresh their know-how and stay on top of those changes.

Who is a great fit for this course?

This course is primarily for doulas (aspiring, new, or established) who would like to bring a new modality to their practice.

If you:

  • Have a passion for supporting people who need it—especially transplant patients.
  • Are an independent learner who does best with dedicated, focused time to digest the material.
  • Are comfortable creating a schedule for yourself to complete your course work.
  • Trust yourself to self-evaluate.
  • Trust yourself to research and dig further into subject matter you want a better understanding of.
  • Understand that this presents a single view and method, and that it is your responsibility as a doula to use it in an authentic way to you and your work.
  • Trust yourself to experiment and learn by doing.
  • Know that no one can make this work for you except you.

Then this program is a great fit for you.

Who is not a great fit for this program?

The Transplant Doula™ program isn’t right for everyone. We care about your success and want you to make the best decision for yourself.

If you:

  • Are looking for medical training (this course is strictly for non-medical application).
  • Want advice on legal, tax structures, medical training, or granular business setup details?
  • Are looking for a “plug and play” system to hit the ground running. Our program requires creativity, risk, discernment, and hard work over time.
  • Need individualized feedback before taking action.
  • Let small decisions keep you stuck rather than dive in, get messy, and do the work.
  • Feel uncomfortable with the financial commitment.

Then the Transplant Doula program isn’t right for you at this point in time, and that’s okay.

Can I take this course if I’m not interested in being a professional doula?

Yes. This course is non-medical and as such, it can provide anyone supporting an organ failure patient, transplant patient or organ donor & organ donor families with invaluable guidance.

What can I expect for monthly group coaching calls?

Every month, we will focus on ONE aspect of transplant doula work for the first half of the call: we might explore modules, concepts, approaches, etc. For the second half of the call, we use a “hot seat” format where all participants have the opportunity to share/ask questions relevant to the topic at hand if they so wish.

Are group coaching calls recorded?

Yes! Replays will be made available within 48 hours of the call.

What do you mean by “hot seat” format for group coaching?

This means that participants have the option to take 10 minutes to present anything they’d like to the group and get feedback, answers, advice, ideas, etc. This is especially powerful for those looking for insights on how to support specific scenarios, or get feedback on an idea for their doula practice, etc.

When do group coaching calls take place?

They usually take place on the first Friday of every month.

How do monthly one-on-one office hours work?

Every month, certain time slots are made available to members who would like one-on-one support with their doula practice, or to be supported through their course work, or to simply connect on thoughts/feelings/ideas on transplant doula work.

Are one-0n-one coaching calls recorded?

No. So be sure to take notes, or feel free to record it yourself with voice notes, screen recording, etc.

What if I can’t make it to my scheduled one-on-one call?

You can schedule another one if there are slots available. They are made available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What is Doula Leadership+ content?

This includes additional courses, workshops, and webinars that tackle matters of interest to transplant doulas who are providing professional services.

Is this content free and included in our membership, too?

Yep, sure is! Everything is included when you sign up for lifetime membership. No strings attached; you’re a lifer. 🙌

What Doula Leadership+ content is available to the general public?

Occasionally, webinars and workshops are made available to the public at a purchase price of $35.

Stay in the know with ongoing advances, research, and findings.

We regularly share news, updates, and research papers that feel pertinent for transplant doulas to know.
